 Our client, an experienced carpenter, approached us to come up with a design for a single storey rear extension and two storey side extension to maximise space in the existing family home.

​

The existing dwelling benefited from extraordinary views out towards Dartmoor and Haytor and the initial concept hinged on opening up the rear of the property to the view, and drawing in more natural light to previously dark North West facing rear of the property.

 Upstairs the third bedroom was cold and draughty with two exposed uninsulated external walls. The first floor extension not only provided a fourth bedroom but also helped to insulate and retain heat within the third bedroom.

​

 The application included the obtaining of a build over agreement from South West Water and the repositioning of an existing manhole which was positioned exactly where the proposed extension would sit.

​

 The client has done an excellent job with this project, carrying out the majority of work himself whilst also carrying out his full time job as a carpenter and having a young family at home.
