Halwill Junction, Beaworthy, Devon

Self-build
Value:
Approx. £250k
Our client approached us to help make their dream a reality in building a new dwelling on a vacant infill plot between two bungalows within the Green Belt.
The site benefits from stunning views out towards Dartmoor and the proposed dwelling seeks to provide a connect to the landscape in the distance. Height was a particular issue when trying to design a two storey dwelling that sat well between two bungalows and wasn't overbearing on either neighbouring property.
The client's had a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve, and we developed the design a number of times with a number of options before settling on the approved design. It was critical to allow lots of light into the spaces as well as providing views out.
The proposed dwelling seeks to provide an ultra modern dwelling in the open countryside which sits well within it's plot and is complimentary to the surrounding properties and landscape and doesn't detract from them. It will be built to passive standards using ICF construction with high levels of insulation, sustainable heating and power, sustainable materials and rainwater harvesting to supply grey water for the flushing of toilets and use by washing machines.
